The Real Tech Behind the Meme

ClownVPN's marketing is irreverent — "Fed Approved," "Goblin Mode Active," "Certified W Rizz" — but the underlying technology is legitimate. WireGuard is the default protocol with AES-256 encryption. The kill switch drops all traffic if the tunnel disconnects. Split tunneling routes only selected apps through the VPN. We ran our standard DNS, WebRTC, and IPv6 leak tests: no leaks on Windows 10 or 11.

No-Logs and Ad-Supported Model

ClownVPN sustains its free model through in-app advertising rather than data monetisation. The no-logs policy states that connection metadata, IP addresses, and browsing activity are not stored. We cannot independently audit a no-logs claim at this scale without a third-party audit — users should factor this in when deciding how much trust to place in any free VPN service. For casual privacy use, it's a solid option; for high-stakes privacy needs, a paid audited provider is more appropriate.
