PureVPN's Always-On Audit is an arrangement with Altius IT that allows unannounced inspections of PureVPN's server infrastructure and no-logs compliance at any time. As of our last review cycle, over 70 surprise audits had been conducted. This contrasts with the more typical one-off or annual audit model used by most providers — unexpected inspections are more likely to catch genuine policy violations than scheduled ones.
Port forwarding is available on PureVPN — a feature absent from most major VPN providers. This is useful for hosting game servers, running a home server behind a VPN, or seeding torrents with better connectivity. The feature requires enabling in the PureVPN Windows app under advanced settings.
With 6,500+ servers in 88 countries, PureVPN has the widest geographic reach on our list. However, server count doesn't directly correlate with streaming performance. Our tests found Netflix US reliable; Disney+, BBC iPlayer, and Hulu were inconsistent. Streaming specialists with fewer but better-maintained servers outperformed PureVPN in our unblocking tests.
